JANUARY NEWS

Celebrating Wellness Month!

New year’s resolutions aside, start 2016 by making a commitment to yourself. Make health and wellness your priority all year long. Stop by the fitness center and let Amie help you chart your course for attaining and maintaining your highest level of physical ability. Studies now show that people who maintain a healthy lifestyle by doing things they like, which require physical exertion, are actually healthier than those who merely workout. This means you need to find fun things that you like to do which require a bit of physical activity. You have shuffleboard, horse shoes, bicycling, putting, swimming, water volleyball, ping pong, just to name a few, right here on the Westminster Village campus.

In addition to the physical wellbeing, socialization has been proven to help stave off some forms of dementia. Your health depends on your connectivity to others. Exercise uses more than just your muscles and benefits more than your base line heart rate.

Just do it! Don’t over think it, just go. Help a friend by becoming a workout buddy. When one of you wants to quit or skip a walk or game it won’t be so easy and then you feel better afterwards because you went.

Would you like to know more about how you can have this healthier lifestyle and fun for yourself? That is easy. See Amie in between classes or come Friday, January 22nd at 1:30 pm to the Fitness Center. Amie will orient everyone on the location of all necessary equipment needed to play the various games in and around the fitness center.
